The Sultanate of Oman is an Arab State in Southwest Asia on the Arabian Peninsula. Once a moderate regional power, its influence declined as it came under heavy influence of the United Kingdom. It is an absolute monarchy, although it maintains a parliament with some legislative and oversight powers. It has an estimated population of approximately 2.8 million people, and the official language is Arabic.
